Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CloudLinux.ro Cloud Servers
Billing & Pricing
How do you bill your servers?+
Servers have both a monthly price cap and a price per hour. Your server's bill will never exceed its monthly price cap. If you delete your Cloud Server before the end of the billing month, you will only be billed the hourly rate. We will bill you for each cloud server until you choose to delete them. Even if you aren't actively using your server, we will bill you for it.
Do you bill servers that are off?+
Yes. All servers that have finished their creation process will be billed until they are deleted, regardless of their state. This is because, internally, we allocate full resources to servers regardless of their power state. And it enables rapid startup and boot times for you, the customer.
Technical Questions
Is there any way to get a custom configuration?+
Customized virtual servers (additional RAM, additional/larger drives etc.) are not currently available. However, we offer a wide range of pre-configured server types to suit most needs.
How reliable are local storage disks for servers?+
Servers with local storage keep all data on a local RAID10 on the host system. This provides fault-tolerance in case of hardware defects. They are optimized for high I/O performance and low latency and are especially suited for applications which require fast access to disks with low latency, such as databases.
Can I install Windows?+
Right now we are focusing on support for Linux as an operating system. If you wish, you may install Windows on your own. However, we will not provide any support for Windows.
How does CloudLinux.ro store data in Volumes?+
Every block of data is stored on three different physical servers (triple replication). This ensures high availability and data redundancy.
Are SMTP ports blocked?+
Yes, SMTP ports (25, 465, 587) are blocked by default on all new servers to prevent abuse and spam. This is a standard security measure implemented across our infrastructure.
Can I use custom ISO images?+
Yes! You can upload and use your own custom ISO images to install any operating system or software on your Cloud Server. Install custom operating systems not available in our standard images, use specialized Linux distributions, install Windows (though we don't provide official support for it), or deploy pre-configured systems with your own setup.
Features & Locations
What locations do you offer?+
We offer cloud servers in multiple locations across Europe, North America, and Asia. See the network page or the pricing page for the current list of datacenters.
Do you plan to add new features?+
We want to keep adding new features and services and are always interested in hearing from you on how we can improve our product! You can provide us with product feedback or feature requests via the contact form on our website.
Snapshots & Backups
How are snapshots billed?+
Snapshots are billed monthly based on their size. When you create a snapshot, you are charged immediately for the first month. After that, you will be charged monthly on the same day each month.
How do backups work and how are they billed?+
Backups are automatic snapshots of your server taken at regular intervals. They are billed as a percentage of your server's monthly cost (typically 20%). When you enable backups for a server, you are charged immediately for the first month, then monthly thereafter.
What happens if I delete a snapshot or backup?+
When you delete a snapshot or backup, you will be charged proportionally for the time it was active. For example, if you delete a snapshot after 15 days, you will be charged for approximately half a month. There are no refunds for unused time.
Additional IPs & Networking
How are additional IP addresses (Floating IPs) billed?+
Floating IPs (both IPv4 and IPv6) are billed monthly. When you create a Floating IP, you are charged immediately for the first month. After that, you will be charged monthly on the same day each month until you delete the IP.
Can I get a refund if I delete a Floating IP?+
No. Like all monthly resources (snapshots, backups, volumes), Floating IPs are charged upfront for the month and there are no refunds for early deletion.
How are Volumes billed?+
Volumes (block storage) are billed monthly based on their size. When you create a volume, you are charged immediately for the first month. After that, you will be charged monthly on the same day each month. The billing model is the same as snapshots and backups - charged upfront with no refunds for early deletion, but proportional charges apply.
Account & Limits
How many servers can I create?+
Each customer has a default limit for the number of Cloud resources that we simultaneously provide. If you would like to increase your limit, you can send a request to our support team by opening a support ticket via your dashboard. Our team will quickly review your request and, if everything is in order, they will increase your limit.
